Indonesia: BPOM finds 14 unsafe cosmetics in Q2 2026
On 13 July 2026 BPOM reported 14 cosmetics from second-quarter surveillance that contained hazardous or prohibited substances, including products with no marketing authorization.
On 13 July 2026 BPOM reported cosmetics that failed safety requirements in routine surveillance during the second quarter of 2026. Of the findings, 11 were local products made under contract manufacture, 1 was imported, and 2 had no marketing authorization (TIE).
Laboratory testing found retinoic acid, hydroquinone, clobetasol propionate, mometasone furoate, red dye K10 and mercury. BPOM said it had withdrawn marketing authorizations and imposed a temporary stop on production, distribution and import. Circulation of cosmetics containing hazardous or prohibited substances is cited against Article 435(1) in conjunction with Article 138(2) of Law No. 17 of 2023 on Health.
BPOM asked buyers to use Cek KLIK (packaging, label, marketing authorization and expiry) before purchasing cosmetics, including those sold online.
